In the year of 1980 Shihan SS Harichandan , the first Black Belt of Odisha ,established the Premier Karate Training Academy in the state, named as ATKS-Alan Thilak Karate School (Orissa). ATKS Orissa was the sole recognised controlling body of ATKS International under the prolific leadership of Late Dai-Sensei Moses Thilak & Sensei Alan Dwyer (Direct Student of Late Soke Kenei Mabuni) following the style of Shito-Ryu Karate.

ATKS-Orissa was renamed as Pruthwi Academy of Martial Arts & Sports (PUMAS) in the year 1990, later featuring as PUMAS INTERNATIONAL,  in the view of supporting and promoting wide range of martial arts like- WushuKickboxing, Paika Akhada(Traditional Martial Art of Odisha) etc. along with Karate sports.

Till date Pumas International has produced numerous Black Belts & Medalists in State, National, International platform which is a pride achievement in itself.

Pumas International had the privilege to become the first national representative of sport kickboxing under the aegis of WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organisations) . Later IAKO (Indian Association of Kickboxing Organisations) was formed to promote the sport by the PUMAS Founder Chairman SS Harichandan.

Pumas International is the HOMBU DOJO for Inoue Ha Shito Ryu Keishinkai-India.
