Shri Biju Patnaik's Love for Martial Arts
An Indian politician, aviator and businessman , The 3rd Chief Minister of Orissa Shri Bijayananda Patnaik Popularly known as Biju Patnaik had an immense love towards sports specifically towards Martial Arts of which his core presence and involvement in Pumas International in those initial days to uplift Martial Arts in the state was the evidence.
Shri Biju Patnaik's support towards PUMAS International's inception was no hidden as he was very much impressed with its founder Shihan Harichandan's achievement as the First Black Belt of the Odisha and his activities in the field of Martial arts.
Even being a CM he would manage to be a part of Pumas's activities across the state to support the budding athletes. Often he was seen on a regular training session at the Pumas Sports Complex-Headquarters (which he has assigned to Pumas International for Sports Development activities) and discuss on development of Martial arts.
His inspirational acts has motivated many youngster then, to join and start martial arts as a sport and self defense. He makes sure to congratulate and show his gratitude to the National and International medalists all the time.
Shri Biju Patnaik always had a vision in taking the Traditional Martial Arts of Odisha " PAIKA AKHADA" to international fame for which PUMAS is providing its best platform to promote the PAIKAS & the Art.
Shihan Harichandan in the year of 1993 honoured him with Honorary Black Belt for his love and support towards Pumas and Martial Arts.
