Wushu Association of Orissa under the aegis of Wushu Association India hosted the 1st Junior National Wushu Championship in the year 1995 at Jawaharlal Nehru indoor stadium.

Around 400 athletes from the country including 50 participant from the host state Odisha took part in the championship.
Mr. Anand Kacker, General Secretary WAI welcomed the participants and Mr. SS Harichandan was designated as Technical Director for the championship.

The Mega Event was inaugurated by Dr. Bimalendu Mohanty, Director Sports of Orissa. The closing ceremony was blessed by Chief Guest Smt. Jayanti Patnaik, Chairperson, National Commission for Women.

The National Champion Trophy was sponsored by Pumas International and named as "PUMAS WUSHU CUP", which was proudly grabbed by the Odisha National Team.
